Understanding AMD

AMD is an eye disease characterized by damage to the macula – a part of the eye that controls vision. The macula is one component of the retina, the light-sensitive layer of tissue at the back of the eye that acts as the messenger of visual information to the brain. AMD is the leading cause of blindness in adults over 65.

  • Dry AMD is a progressive condition that can lead to significant vision loss over time. Currently, there is no cure for dry AMD. When retinal cells die, they create geographic atrophy scars that cause permanent vision impairment.

  • Early intervention is crucial. With prompt diagnosis, your doctor can begin retinal health management using Valeda treatment, which may help preserve vision and provide lasting benefits.

The VALEDA® Advantage

The VALEDA Light Delivery System is intended to improve visual acuity in patients with best corrected visual acuity of 20/32 through 20/70. Clinical studies have shown that after about two years, the VALEDA Light Delivery System treatment improves visual acuity by approximately one line of visual acuity (ETDRS) compared to those not receiving the treatment.

  • Valeda® is a non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate energy production within the cells, resulting in improved cell health. Healthy retinal cells are important for good vision.

  • Important Safety Information

    Contraindications For Use

As a precaution, patients have not been tested and should not be treated with VALEDA® if they have:

    • Any known photosensitivity to yellow light, red light or near-infrared radiation (NIR)
    • A history of light activated central nervous system disorders (e.g., epilepsy, migraine)
